Crowned by Grace
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” — 1 Peter 2:9
It’s a known fact in my family that I like to be considered the “queen.”There are even times I playfully ask my family to refer to me as such. But this morning, I received a text message from my mom about a dream she had, and it gave me a new perspective.
First of all, I absolutely love that no matter our age, God still talks through moms about their children. What a gift. As I reflected on her dream, I found myself wanting to know more!
In her dream, my mom said the Lord kept calling me Princess. She even told Him, “Princess is not her name—it’s Summer.” But He continued, calling me Princess over and over again. That simple word carried a weight I couldn’t ignore.
A princess is not just a title; it’s an identity. She is a daughter of the King. And as someone who has struggled with my relationship with my earthly father, this was a sweet and somber reminder: I am a daughter of the King.
The attributes of a princess are powerful and beautiful. A princess is:
• Cherished: She is deeply loved by the King, not for what she does, but simply for who she is.
• Chosen: She has a unique place in the Kingdom, set apart and called for a purpose.
• Graceful: She walks with kindness, humility, and the dignity that reflects her royal heritage.
• Protected: The King watches over her, fights for her, and ensures her safety.
• Empowered: She carries the authority and legacy of the King, representing His heart and His Kingdom.
This reminder shifted my perspective. While a queen may rule, a princess is defined by her relationship with the King. And no matter what I may feel on the outside or the inside, I am a reflection of His love, grace, and legacy.
As daughters of the King, we carry His royalty within us. Even in the midst of our struggles, insecurities, or the messiness of life, we are not defined by what we’ve been through or how we feel. We are defined by who we belong to.
So today, I’m embracing this truth: I am a princess. Not because of anything I’ve done, but because of who my Father is. And no matter what I face, I am His reflection—His legacy—made for something greater than I can imagine.
Thank you Mom, for dreaming what God wants me to know.
A Prayer for Daughters of the King
Lord, thank You for calling me Your daughter and reminding me of my worth in You. Help me to see myself as You see me—chosen, cherished, and loved. Teach me to walk in Your grace and purpose, knowing I am Yours.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Summer
